Lucy Museum of Musicians - Carpenters

Qualification to The Lucy Museum of Musicians who deserve entry to Lucy's Museum of Musicians is they must have a minimum of three songs which would make me turn up the radio if they came on.

Carpenters

Qualifying Songs: Goodbye to Love, Rainy Days and Mondays, Superstar

The brother and sister combination and their songs, mostly covers, were so sugary sweet that you risked diabetes listening to them but Karen's amazing vocals along with the sad songs about lost love is a powerful combination.
The sombre 'Rainy Days and Mondays' unbelievably failed to chart in the United Kingdom in 1971 until it went to number 63 in a reissue in 1993.
The Carpenters version of 'Superstar' was the third time that the song had been in the charts by different artists and was a song that Karen said she found emotionally difficult to sing as she suffered with loneliness herself, and the personal implications of the lyrics was a little too close to home for her.
The fuzz guitar solo on the end of 'Goodbye To Love' by Tony Peluso is awesome and not what you would expect from a Carpenters song but it is the almost perfect arrangements by Richard and the amazing vocal talents of Karen that lift their songs above the average and into the Lucy Museum of Musicians who deserve entry to Lucy's Museum of Musicians.

I don't think you were their target audience, certainly more of a girly band.
