British politicians are pressuring the Foreign Secretary, Sajid Javid, to prioritise sending Julian Assange to Sweden, amid concerns that US charges will overshadow the allegations of rape.
The Assange rape and sexual assault is an interesting case which centres around the use, or not, of condoms.
Before he disappeared into the Ecuadorean Embassy, the story proceeded that in 2010 two Swedish women made a statement to Police that they had been sexually assaulted by the Wikileaks creator.
The case was first dismissed by Stockholm's chief prosecutor who said that there was no reason to suspect that Assange had committed rape and the warrant withdrawn but then the Director of public prosecution, a more senior position in the Swedish legal system, then reopened the case citing new information.
The first accuser suggested Assange stay in her flat the evening before a speaking engagement in Sweden. Both agree that they slept together on the night before the event, during which the condom split.
The following day, the second accuser met Assange at the event and afterwards the pair went to the cinema, where she told police she had performed oral sex on him.
What happened next is where the Swedish court case will concentrate.
The first woman told police that the condom had ripped but he continued to have sex with her so while she had consented to have sex with a condom, she had not consented to sex without one.
The second woman said he did not wear a condom during oral sex in the cinema so the unprotected sex act had been without her consent.
They were reportedly advised by the police officer that these allegations amounted to rape against the first woman and sexual molestation against the second.
The issue for many is that once the British pack him off to Sweden, America will be his next port of call where at the time of his legging it to the Embassy, politicians including one time Presidential candidate Mick Huckabee said 'anything less than execution is too kind a penalty' and one time Vice President Sarah Palin called for him to be treated as if he was 'an Al Quaeda or Taliban leader'.
We have seen with Chelsea Manning what America does with it's whislteblowers so a fair trial in America for Assange is unlikely so Sweden is likely to only be a stepping stone on his way to a solitary confinement cell in the land of the free which is not so free if you show the World what brutality they are up to.

Sweden Channeling It's Inner Odin
In May, Sweden issued a brochure to all it's citizens called 'If Crisis or War Comes' containing advice on how to take shelter, what foods to stock, how to manage water reserves and, most importantly, how to tell propaganda from trustworthy information.
The booklet is designed to prepare the populace in case of all-out war and now they have followed that up with the call up of it's entire 22,000 reservist Home Guard force for exercises.
The Swedish Supreme Military Commander said it was: 'to strengthen Sweden's military defence and improve our operational capabilities' but you do wonder just what Sweden are planning?
Should Norway or Finland start worrying or are they channeling their inner Viking and have their sights set on the raiding the North of England again like last time they got a bit uppity?
We should probably watch those Thor movies just in case.

Non-Consensual Sex Is Always Rape
Deciding if a rape has taken place should be straight forward, if consent is not given then it is rape so it is disheartening that Sweden have had to pass a law to clarify what shouldn't really need clarifying.
After more than a decade of campaigning to change the law in the Scandinavian nation, Sweden has finally passed a law to make sex illegal without explicit consent but Sweden is just the tenth country in Europe to recognise non-consensual sex as rape.
The new legislation aligns Sweden with the UK, Belgium, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Iceland, Ireland and Germany.
Shockingly marital rape is still legal in 33 countries across the world. These include Ghana, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Lesotho, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. UK courts only ruled that husbands were not entitled to have sex with wives regardless of whether or not they offer their consent in 1992.
Sweden’s decision comes at a time when a recent Europe-wide survey on the issue revealed widespread victim blaming and challenging views on consent. Nearly one-third of respondents said they believed that sex without consent is sometimes justified.
Sex without consent in any circumstances is rape and it really shouldn't be that hard to understand and i'm bewildered that to some, this concept is not understood and laws have to be imposed to make it a crime.

#Pray4Sweden
I don't want to keep writing about Donald Trump but when he is so eye-wateringly awful at his job that everyone stops to mock him, well what can a person do except join in the mocking?
So impatient is he to try and justify his Muslim ban by pointing out Muslim terror attacks elsewhere that he has started making them up as he did yesterday when he cited a non-existent attack in Sweden during a rally of his supporters.
Trump told supporters: 'We’ve got to keep our country safe. You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this?'
The simple answer is nobody would believe it because as the Swedish Government pointed out 'Nothing has happened here in Sweden. There has not been any terrorist attacks here. At all.'
The former Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt tweeted: 'Sweden? Terror attack? What has he been smoking?'
Most ironic after his bizarre rant about the dishonest media and fake news just a few days ago that he and his increasingly ridiculous administration has once again been spewing forth on terror attacks that never happened, like the fictional Bowling Green Massacre and the one that never happened in Atlanta.
Laughably shocking though it is, the Swedes have a good sense of humour and the media there have been running real Swedish stories under the heading 'Non-Fake News' : 'Due to harsh weather in northern parts of Sweden the road E10 was closed between Katterjakk and Riksgransen' and 'a wooden moose got the attention of a lovesick moose bull.'
Of course it goes without saying that our thoughts are with all Swedes at this difficult time of a non-terrorist attack but stay tuned to Donald Trump for further updates on made up terror attacks.
And we all thought Comical Ali was the pinnacle of ridiculousness, Donald Trump and his gang are comedy gold!!
Not sure what happened to the promise to make America great again but him and his useful idiot supporters are certainly making it a laughing stock.

Sweden The 'Goodest' Country
I once asked a Swede why all their doors opened outwards instead of inwards like most peoples front doors and the answer was that not only did it avoid dragging snow indoors but it was a safety feature as you don't get trapped by the door when running out of the house in case of a fire.
It is thinking like that which means Sweden finds itself top of the clumsily titled 'Goodest Country in the World Index' which ranks 163 countries depending upon its positive lifestyle contributions, including prosperity, equality, health and wellbeing and contributions to the greater good of humanity.
Second is Denmark, then Netherlands and the UK sits the 4th goodest country and then Germany, Finland, Canada, France, Austria and New Zealand making up the top 10.
Australia is 17th, Japan 19th and the USA 21st but Libya is the least 'goodest' nation which contributes least to the common good of humanity just above Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Central African Republic and Iraq.

Congratulations Sweden
They will be giddy in Gothenburg, slapping backs in Stockholm and probably mullered in Malmo because Sweden have been crowned Eurovision Champions 2015.
In a show of a continental two fingered salute to our politicians, Russia came in second and in what can only be called a bizarre mass deafness related incident, Italy finished third.
The invite to Australia to become part of Europe for the evening finished with them coming in fifth and countless mentions of 'Good morning Australia' as it was 8am down there when the voting section of the evening began and at that time they would only be on their second breakfast tinny.
As for the United Kingdom and our 1920's style song, oh dear, it limped in 24th out of the 27 entries with a disappointing five points, three points ahead of France but five points more than Germany and Austria who ended the night with nul points, which is tremendously embarrassing for the hosts.
As usual we have to blame the block voting of neighbours voting for neighbours and as we are an island, our neighbours have neighbours they are actually sharing a border with so we are always onto a loser but this year we had a half-way decent song which was heavily promoted with a good reception around Europe for the past two months so we can't really blame the song but in that fine British way, we have to find someone to blame and i blame Tony Blair.
Since the dodgy ex-Prime Minister join forces with that lot over the Atlantic, our European cousins have shunned us so we can add spoiling our chances of ever winning Eurovision on Blair as well as him ruining the Labour Party and getting us involved with iffy Americans and their dodgy oversea wars.
Anyway, congratulations Sweden and it's off to Stockholm next year where we will turn up and be on the receiving end of another sound thrashing by the likes of Latvia and Montenegro but still finish above the French and Germans. Losers.

Swedish Riots??
I think if a riot broke out anywhere in the World i could accept it but Sweden??
I have been to Sweden many times, beautiful landscapes, marvellous cities and warm and friendly people and i have it in my mind that when i clock out for the last day, whenever that is, i will up sticks and move to the Scandinavian country so to hear that there was five days of rioting is as shocking to me as hearing the Queen belching loudly in the face of an Ambassador.
Part of me wants to just ignore it, pretend it hasn't happened and continue thinking of the Sweden that i have in my minds eye and not the Sweden with riot police, burnt out cars and petrol bombs.
The riots which were touched off on Sunday after police shot dead a 69-year-old man who was reportedly roaming the suburb of Husby, a suburb of Stockholm, with a machete.
Not in Sweden, that was my place to escape to and now the disease that blights everywhere else has arrived there.
It's all so thoroughly depressing.

Welcome Sweden
In 2004, a video message from Osama Bin Laden advised the American people that their country, along with Israel, was the cause of injustice in the Middle East and that was why he and his Al Queada cohorts would continue to strike out at them. He also name checked Sweden as a country they hadn't nor wouldn't attack. Nice lovable Sweden.
Fair enough you may think, apart from a spot of raping and pillaging over a millennium ago, Sweden has been quietly sat there churning out the odd Eurovision song contest winner and avoiding getting involved with much of the global arguing, even managing to stay neutral through the whole of World War II.
It was the quiet one of the class while the more boisterous countries shouted, hollered and fought among themselves.
Then something changed and little Sweden began hanging around the fringe of the bad boys. Then it got involved with a fight between America and Afghanistan and now, after the bombing on the streets of Stockholm, Sweden has been sucked into the sights of the terrorists.
Rather than stay safely on the sidelines, it was swayed by the worst of the gang, America and Great Britain, to join them in a war of dubious origins, that they can't possibly win and which they have been trying to find a way to get out of for years.
You are one of us now Sweden and you have a big hole in the middle of Stockholm shopping district to show for it.
Welcome to the World the boisterous countries made. Nice 'innit.

Assange Rape Claim
The arrest of Julian Assange on charges of rape and sexual assault is an interesting case which centers around the use, or not, of condoms.
The case first came to light in August when an arrest warrant was issued for Mr Assange following two Swedish women making a statement to police that they had been sexually assaulted by the Wikileaks creator.
Special mention should be made here that the story was broken by the Swedish tabloid newspaper Expressen soon after the case was opened. Possibly just a coincidence that this was the newspaper that the first accuser interned at and that they had the scoop.
The case was then dismissed by Stockholm's chief prosecutor who said that there was no reason to suspect that Assange had committed rape and the warrant withdrawn.
Now the Director of public prosecution, a more senior position in the Swedish legal system, has reopened the case citing new information.
The story appears to proceed as follows.
What happened next is where the court case, if it happens, will concentrate.
The first and second woman, who did not know each other, contacted each other and some days later the two went to a Stockholm police station where they said they requested advice on making a complaint against Assange.
The first woman told police that he had ripped the condom on purpose, while the second woman said the unprotected sex act in the cinema had been without her consent.
They were reportedly advised by the police officer that these allegations amounted to rape against the first woman (the former Expressen intern) and sexual molestation against the second.
Laughably weak maybe, stinking of set up certainly, clumsy smear job without doubt but you can be sure that American pressure will be applied and this will be a severe test for the British legal system to dismiss the case which centers around how a condom split during consensual sex.
