Two Tribes - Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Of the millions of songs which have been recorded, only 30 songs can make it into The Lucy Museum of Musicians who deserve entry to Lucy's Museum of Musicians and at number 24 we have Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood (1984).

Those of us of a certain age remember the musical show 'The Tube' and occasionally they would show a late night version to show videos that couldn't be shown in polite tea-time company.
Frankies Two Tribes was one such recipient and i remember a girls night of alcohol stolen from parents drinks cabinet and cheese and onion crisps while we watched the depiction of the then USA President Ronald Reagan and the then-Soviet leader Konstantin Chernenko gouging, biting and generally beating lumps out of each other.
Probably the most recognizable bass line ever which throbs away relentlessly through the song, it was another one which dialed into our Cold War fears of nuclear war and such was my love for this song and early FGTH in general, that i not only bought the single but the 12", the 12" picture disc and put it on my Walkmans cassette mix-tape between each of the other songs.
Frankie were the bad boys of pop back then and did the ultimate pop group thing of exploding into our charts with 3 number ones and then quietly fading away to leave me with my memories of Holly Johnson in a thong with one painted blue buttock and one red buttock and an angry mother asking me if i knew where her bottles of Babycham had gone.
