Amnesty Report: Israel A Regime Of Oppression

I have never really understood what America gets out of backing Israel, it just makes them implicit in one of the greatest wrongs since the 1940's, bankrolling a nation to continue it's genocide against the Palestinians.
Israel does not have many friends around the globe and yesterday Amnesty International issued a report accusing Israel of practicing forced evictions, unlawful killings and severe restrictions on movement and freedom and called it 'a regime of oppression and domination of the Palestinian population for the benefit of Jewish Israelis–a system of apartheid'.
Sounds about right to me but as expected the Israeli Government rejected it, spouting the usual monotonous 'anti-semitism' but the US State Department also rejected the report, saying that: 'As the world’s only Jewish state, the Jewish people must not be denied their right to self-determination' which misses the point because nobody is trying to stop the Jewish people from their self-determination, they just want them to not militarily oppress and kill their neighbours while they are doing it.
One reporter asked why the State Department rejected the Amnesty report on Israel's Human Rights abuses but accepted and endorsed the same group on abuse in China, Cuba, Iran, and Syria for which the State Department cited a lack of other sources for refusing to accept it which must have come as a surprise to the collection of human rights groups who expressed their support for Amnesty’s report, themselves putting out a statement that stated they they 'wholeheartedly reject the idea that Amnesty International’s report is baseless, singles out Israel, or displays antisemitic animus' and then called the Israel government’s charges of antisemitism 'spurious'.
One Jewish Group in America agreed and said that: 'the US and American Jewish establishment can't have it both ways. You can't savage Amnesty International's and Human Rights Watch’s work on Israel-Palestine without undermining their work everywhere else'.
The vast majority of the problems are due to Israel, a people who were once the brutally oppressed themselves, and America is giving financial and political assistance to it's brutal, violent and abhorrent treatment of the Palestinians by handing over $4 billion a year of American taxpayers money to Israel.
If America stopped bankrolling Israel, it wouldn't be able to maintain such a large military presence, so it would have to make peace with its neighbour or go bankrupt, ending the 70 year brutal oppression of the Palestinian people and making Israel less of the the pariah state that it currently is and richly deserves to be.
