Throughout History, us Brits have had a penchant for sticking our big noses into everything. Whenever anything was happening we would be there with our inquisitive proboscis trying to tell others what to do, when to do it and to whom.
As our star has waned, we have been relegated to turning up to these moments more in the role as the chap who makes the tea rather than a major player.
Maybe it is for this very reason that the Brits have a very poor showing in the Blogosphere which is dominated by Americans, Canadians and Australians.
I have been searching for some British blogs lately but they are quite thin on the ground, those worth reading anyway.
I have only a handful in the 40 or so i have bookmarked so where are all the British blogs that are not concerned about football, Take That or the best place to buy Playstation 2 games.
Come on Britain, find your voices Britain. Failing that, just a little milk but no sugar thanks and any of those choccy biccys left?

Excellent question, Lucy. I've often wondered the same thing. Most of the people i bump into online are Canadian.
The funny thing is, the Canadian bloggers (Muslims, at least) seem to have established some kind of network, so most of the blog rolls i peek through are to more Canadians!
Same thing happened when i visited an Oz blog.
But you know us Brits, we're never happy with the piece of land we're on - we want to journey the world (usually looking for some sun), so that's why we're not as well networked, perhaps?
Although Canada is not the ideal place to catch the rays!!
I notice that about the Australians especially, they do seem to link to their fellow countrymen.
As it stands, it is just you, me & Courtney but i think Courtney has fell asleep since Christmas.

You're one of four UK bloggers i talk to regularly, the others being Sumera, ARG (who doesn't frequent my site much, but i do his), and Umm Yusuf (a recent addition).
I posted an entry a couple of days ago about Brit Muslims, but none of my readers could contribute much cos they're all bleeding foreigners! So it does influence the content of my entries. Rather than discussing Brit affairs, i have to explain them from scratch, and i can't always be bothered with that!
I guess your fellow countrymen need to do a bit of Blogopire building, what?

iMuslim - I found that sometimes the British sense of humour just does not travel much outside of the UK, and don't get me started on irony. See Joes response to Choccy Biccy as evidence. Also, see Seinfeld for the reverse.
Mark - I put it down to the famous British reserve of not wanting to show emotion or feelings for anything. And we are too busy making tea to go with our choccy biccys.
Actually, my all time favorite comedy show is British (guess what it is). My two favorite movie directors are a Brit that moved to Hollywood and a New Yorker that moved to England.

The easy options would be Fawlty Towers or Monty Python as they seem universaly popular but i see you as a man who enjoys a more subtle kind of humour so i am plumping for Blackadder.
Blackadder is brilliant. I've never seen any of S1, but the rest were pure class. Rowan Atkinson does evil-but-downtrodden genius so well... i cringe when he plays stupid characters like Mr Bean!
My fave Brit comedy is Red Dwarf. Belly-achingly good. The last season was a let down, though.
Perhaps Joe likes The Office? I, however, am part of 0.001% of the Brit population that hasn't watched a single episode.

I was a late convert to Red Dwarf iMuslim and saw them second time around. They were very good.
Blackadder 1 was not very good so you did not miss much. Ben Elton and Richard Curtis only began writing it afer the first series so you can safely ignore it. Blackadder goes forth was my favourite of the lot.
Do you remember an Xmas episode of Blackadder? It featured a "good" BlA that lived at the time of Queen Victoria. He was visited by the Ghost of Christmas (something) played by Robbie Coltrane, and when he was shown his future, he saw that he'd end up as a slave to Baldrick! That's when he decided to become "nasty", and the BlA we love, appeared!
I guess I'm a disapointment.... I've heard of black adder but haven't watched it.... I was referring to Fawlty Towers.
I watched the hearing aid episode just the other night.
