FOAB Posts in 2013

There were 423 posts on this blog in 2013 and Statcounter tells me that the top posts were:

World Turning Vegetarian
Thatcher Jokes
e-cigarettes As Medicine
Voyager-1 Has Left The Solar System
Pop Songs Ripping Off Classical Tunes

No rhyme or reason that connects the posts that i can see and there has been the usual mix of serious and not so serious posts, probably more climate change ones than normal as the Worlds weather went loopy.
The Behind The Scenes Of The 2013 List Post took the longest, i started that one around August but my own favourite was back in January, Thinking About Uranus. Proper schoolgirl stuff.

I do find myself considering moving on from the blogging sometimes, after almost a decade there can't be many more situations or thoughts left that i haven't posted either here or my previous blogs and i have a constant nagging to write up some of the novella ideas that have been floating around my brain for years and i keep meaning to start on but never seem able to. Just seems easier to find the pithy 500 words to type here rather than the 100,000 to turn what's in my over-active brain into a proper story.
I'm sure that i will still be saying it next December so Happy New Year to all and let's hope that 2014 takes a
leaf from Abraham Lincoln in the Bill & Ted movie and we are all excellent to each other.

I thought you had a lot provocative posts, and may humorous ones as well.

in fact, I suggested your blog to a bunch of neocons.

I told them that you represent the left pretty well, and that while you ignore facts you don't like and neglect logic that you rarely, maybe never, attack the person (which is typical of people from he left) and stick to misrepresenting data and logic...

I like it when you accuse me of misrepresenting data and logic, i take it as a way of you not being able to take apart my argument so you try and take apart the way i arrive at the argument.

no, I do it because instead of addressing facts you disagree with, you ignore them.

Using logic with the left doesn’t work because the left doesn’t use logic in the first place.

Some assumptions required for the left to be logical:
- only whites are racist
- only men are sexist
- if you treat everyone nice, nobody (almost) will do bad things
- you can make people equal
- if minorities don’t get equal outcomes there must have been bias
- people will willingly make their families sacrifice to help people they don't know
- if people are not willing to sacrifice for people they don’t know, it is the job of the government to force them to sacrifice
- when people fail it is not their fault if they are a minority or from the left
- only successful people are greedy
- the left does not exploit the envy and jealousy of the poor
- most poor people are not lazy
- poor people are not responsible for their bad decisions
- advertising FORCES people to do things
- there are “free” government services
- rich people have too much money
- you don’t have to tax the middle class more to care of the poor because the 1% have enough money to take everybody out of poverty
- if a black, Hispanic or homosexual say they suffered racism, it cannot be questioned
- if you think heterosexuality is better than homosexuality you are a homophobe
- Muslims are only violent because of how Jews and Christians treat them
- get rid of guns and humans will stop killing each other
- the police will protect you and your family
- you cannot protect your family with a gun
- getting rid of guns will not give criminals an advantage
- getting rid of guns means criminals won’t be able to get guns
- people don’t need guns because western governments can be trusted
- when you have an abortion the child that is killed isn’t human
- capital punishment kills innocent people, but unborn children are not innocent
- journalists are unbiased
- the press is fair, accurate, and honest (except for FOX)
- Rush Limbaugh is not an entertainer - he is a biased neocon reporter
- ditto Bill O’Reilly
- actors are smarter than the rest of us, but not because they had any advantages
- if a scientist says people are causing harm it cannot be questioned
- a study that says the right is doing good must be on the take
- unions are government are not corrupt, that is the domain of business people
- the UN is not corrupt
- only America and the UK do deals with corrupt governments
- it is okay if iran has nuclear weapons because Israel has some
- studies that support views of the left CAN NEVER be on the take (Al Gore)
- Al Gore isn’t getting rich exploiting global warming and he does not create more CO2 than the average human
- Al Gore is smarter than W
- only the right has wacked people because Nancy Pelosi, Michael Moore, Harry Reid, Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman and Piers Morgan are not wacked…
- a pure democracy is the superior government model
- Michael Moore is a journalist and he is unbiased and he never distorts the truth
- minimum wage helps low income people more than it harms them
- health care is a right
- the environment only changes because of humans
- we can accurately model anything regardless of complexity
- evolution is not just a misinterpretation of the bible, it disproves the possibility of God
- all races of human are equal
- when pro basketball was all white people it was due to racism, but now that it is almost all black people there is no racism, even though all races are equal…
- ditto football
- spending several Trillion dollars to help poor and minorities in America hasn’t worked, but it would have if we had spent more trillions
- the middle class is a universal and timeless economic concept
- government waste is a smaller percentage than corporate profits
- government employees are not an overhead expense for companies and workers
- teachers should make more than the scientists, engineers, doctors, etc that they taught
- I’m tired

Nice list, very sweeping.

If you provide proper facts then we engage with them, if you use them to try and change the subject, swerve the discussion or have no relevance to the discussion then they get ignored.

Happy New Year Lucy. Can we expect more climate change, political and left wing posts from you this year?
I only read the non-political ones and delete anything else from my reader as i have no interest in them.

Lucy said...

Happy New Year to you also Chris. I can't see things changing Chris, sorry. You will have to keep deleting the ones you don't like but thank you for reading the other ones.

Lucy: I enjoy the mixture of political and non-political... and the fact that we have profound differences on many issues is a good thing in my view - it helps me re-examine my own thoughts about things.

PS: I enjoyed reading Q's battle with all those left-wing strawmen in his head. Do you reckon the solitaire app on his iPhone has stopped working?

Too much red meat i reckon. Did you see the size of the cooker he had in the garden? I can only just about get a 12" pizza in mine and he's got one that can fit two cows!

Every one of those was used on me by someone from the left.

The latest is that mcdonald's advertizing makes people eat until they are fat and they cant stop themselves

"Every one of those was used on me by someone from the left."

I bet you they haven't been.

Lucy said...

'McDonald's makes people eat until they are fat and they cant stop themselves' is not as catchy as 'Loving it'.

Cheezy said...

One is certainly catchier than the either. But neither of them happen to be true.

cheezy,

you are right. I have not been told "i'm tired". But, I have been told my ideals are tired...
