Israel's Victory Only Temporary

While Israel, one of the most powerful armies and backed by American dollars and arms, was always going to swat away Hamas and Hezbollah and do it with no regard for the lives of innocent Palestinians and Lebanese, what it isn't doing while targeting and assassinating the leaders of both the groups is addressing why groups like these rose in the first place.
To the north, where Lebanon and Israel share a border there are 70,000 Israelis displaced to the south and tens of thousands of Lebanese likewise to the north although the latter are rarely mentioned, we only hear that most of the senior leaders of Hezbollah have been eliminated and how it will 'change the balance of power in the region for years to come.
While it may unbalance Hamas and Hezbollah for a time while they reorganise, it doesn't address the underlying reasons which will continue to exist and may well grow in other groups so it is only a temporary victory as we saw in 1992 when the killing of Hezbollah’s secretary-general Abbas al-Musawi, along with his wife and son saw him replaced by Nasrallah who was an even greater threat to Israel by obtaining the group’s vast array of long-range rockets and precision-guided missiles.
Israel may claim a 'game changer' but while it militarily occupies Palestine and the West Bank as well as parts of Lebanon, nothing will change because Israel may kill the leaders but they will be replaced and the resentment and hostility towards Israel will go on unabated because as much as Israel refuse to accept it, it's neighhbours are not going anywhere and the only way to live peacefully with them is to address the circumstances which led the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah to become players on their doorstep.

Israel giving the people in Palestine the territory for the development of a "two state" solution will not help Israel either. Iran wants to be the regional power. Iran culturally hates Israel (Muslim leaders hate Jews - pure racism), and Iran also cannot be The regional power as long as Israel exists. The same is actually true for Lebanon. Israel was getting along pretty good with Lebanon, which Iran can't stand, so they stir up Hezbolla (using Muslim hatred of Jews).

Of course, the ironic thing is that the Muslims in Iran hate the Muslims in the Palestine area and the Muslims in Lebanon almost as much as they hate Jews, almost. If Israel was eliminated as a nation, Iran would begin killing the same people that Israel is killing... how ironic... and they would conquer Lebanon as well. Of course, that would lead to conflict with Turkey. The whole Ottoman Empire - Persian wars all over again...

The problem is not Israel. The problem is that Iranian and Arabic Muslims hate each other. They just hate Israel more...

I've noticed that you tend to be quiet about people being killed when it isn't Americans and Israelis doing the killing...

If you think I stay quiet when people are getting killed regardless of who is doing the killing then you REALLY haven’t been paying attention.

how many times did you write about:
- Uyghurs (last 10 years - deaths unknown, 1.5M imprisoned)
- Yemen (340,000 civilians killed circa 2014)
- Sudan as you read (150,000 civilians killed)
- Ethiopia’s Tigray war (350,000 civilians killed) 2021
- Conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo last 5 years
- Ukraine invasion

so, 25 or 30 posts about abuses by the US and Israel and 3 or 4 about all the others...

The more abuses the more they get written about. Journalism 101.

Please, "Journalism 101" is simply your lame excuse for over-indexing on criticizing the US, Israel, and capitalism.

You use that ploy, "Journalism 101", because the data is clear. You have a steady stream of attacks on the US and Israel and very little on the abuse of people by russia, china, cuba, venezuela, n korea (you make fun of the leader occasionally but not the regime), iran (you write about abuse of women in the west but say nothing about the many Islamic based nations that repress women - not they care what you think...).

Your premise is that you care about people being mistreated, but only really seem to care about people being "mistreated" by the US and Israel, and occasionally the UK.

And, i agree that the latest conflict in the ME does not fix the problem for Israel (not all problems can be fixed, some can only be managed). However, iran has just had its regional ambitions set back at least a decade. their strategy of proxy war on Israel has been undermined and they will have to rethink their strategy.

The Journalism 101 thing was a sarcastic dig at your Economics 101 a few posts back. Obviously something else that flew over your head again. Oh well.

Oh, i get it. you primarily attack the US and Israel. this latest comment is just another attempt by you to divert from the truth that you actually don't comment on hundreds of thousands of deaths committed by others than the US and Israel...

as backed by no, or at best a relative few, posts about the abused of russia, china, and the long list of others
