No Advertising Here

As i heard on my Sony CDX-GT424 CD/MP3/USB car radio that has amazing looks and great features which come together so you actually look forward to long car journeys, the culture secretary has spoken out against plans to introduce product placement as an alternative against commercial breaks.
I drew on my Raffles 100s which are a blend of the finest flu-cured golden Virginia, air-cured Burley and Oriental tobaccos for that mild taste and contemplated just what i would prefer as i drove my Peugeot 307 1.6 (Peugeot are committed to leading the industry with style, flair and a relentless drive for aesthetic achievement) to the Asda supermarket where shoppers can buy top quality products at low, low prices such as the new BOSCH TAS4011 Coffee Maker which combines the great Tassimo system with Bosch's renowned looks and quality, and offers a world of flavour with perfect results every time.
On the one hand the advertisement breaks are annoying, especially during a film but they do give a convenient break for nipping off to the kitchen or bathroom.
Maybe one evening i will have to switch off my affordable yet stylish Sony Ericsson W200i mobile phone with its amazing 5 mega pixel camera and switch on my Panasonic TX-26LMD70A Television with V-Real technology, acclaimed for delivering outstanding image quality and decide, although i really hate the idea of some smart arse trying to sneak in subliminal adverts when you least expect them.

Actually, I would prefer benign product placement. They have to drive some brand of car in TV shows, why not have Ford pay for them to be Fords; they have to drink some kind of soda, why not have Coke pay for it to be Coke. Of course, if they crossed the line with placement that wasn't incidental to the scene, I'd probably get my popcorn and put on a good infomercial instead.

By the way Lucy, if all of your posts were like this, I'd probably stop reading your blog. Is that telling?

If all my posts were like this i would stop writing it effay. Just trying to be different to every other blog posting on this subject on blogs elsewhere. Got to try different things or it gets boring.

I wasn't criticizing the post, I'm just saying that intrusive product placement could hurt a TV show's ratings.

I have to agree that bathroom breaks are fairly useful - especially for the very young and the very not so young. Sometimes we'd rather record things with our Verizon Fios DVR and watch them later on our Sony Bravo HDTV which we purchased at an incredible saving at 6th Avenue Electronics where there are similar savings on top quality merchandise every day, so as to be able to pause. With our triple play package we get more HD channels than cable, more on demand shows and movies and the fastest high speed internet available in our area all for less than we'd pay for cable.

I'm not as good as you, Lucy, but I could practice.

I'm getting there Cody, i might even be tempted to sort out my pension one day. Still waiting for a sure fire share tip by the way.

Great stuff Zenyenta, hopefully your cheque or free samples from Sony and mine from Peugeot are on the way.

Here's my tip, taking all my years of business school, and 17 years in the capital markets. Don't invest in tips. Slow and steady wins the race. Treat stocks like employees, not children. If they disappointed you, fire them. Here are a few more (the nicer ones, I don't want your blog to lose it's PG rating)

1. Don't try to catch a falling knife
2. Even a broken clock is right twice a day
3. It's not the timing of the market, it's the time spent in the market.
4. I rather own the worst stock in the best sector, than the best stock in the worst sector.
5. Liquidity is everything
6. Stocks will rally a bit, with a general pullback, and then level off. Just not in that particular order.
7. Bulls make money, Bears make money, Pigs get slaughtered.

I hope these help

Cody, if you can come up with another 993 of these i can make them into a book, sell it and live of the royalties in my old age. Problem solved.
