When the Government cut the Foreign Aid budget from 0.5% or GDP to 0.3% there was a clear split between the Right who celebrated it and the Left wing who despised it and out came the usual arguments that the Right are selfish and only care about them and theirs and everyone else can go hang and the Left care more about everyone else and their own can go hang.
The Right believe that, to use that famous quote, 'Charity begins at home' and everyone in our own country should be looked after before we even consider spending money elsewhere but the Left argue that 'Charity begins where it is most needed' and there is no reason why we can't look after our own AND whoever else needs it.
There is a Social Experiment which asks people to split 100 Moral Credits between a range of categories from 1 to 16 according to their capacity to empathize with and behave morally towards which starts (1) with your immediate family and runs through (4) all of your friends, (6) all people you have ever met, (8) all people on your continent, (12) all animals on earth and ends on (16) all things in existence.
With just 100 Moral Credits available, the Right Wing contributors split their Moral Allocation to cover up to (9) All people on all continents, while Left Wing contributors split their Allocation up to (16) All things in existence.
The Experiment was then redone with no limit on the amount of Moral Credits available and the same results where achieved with the Right Wing allocation again concentrated on the first 9 categories and the Left Wing splitting theirs across all categories up to 16.
The conclusion reached by the researchers was that those with Right Wing beliefs exhibiting greater concern and preference for family, relatives and friends, while the Left exhibited a preference for everyone and everything.
Obviously this can be interpreted in any way you want but to me it shows that as the Left covered the same as the Right but then went on to include everyone else also, it makes the Left morally superior so if you want a nice person as a friend or partner, cuddle up to a Leftie.

Are The Left Morally Superior?

so your basis for morality is "concern for all (equity) with no consideration for practicality (can't feed everyone so feed my family) or individual preference (i don't want to work so someone i don't know can eat)".
makes sense for a leftist. leftists think their morality is best, so they think they have the imperative to:
> change the others to think like us (change human nature)
> if we can't change them, then can control them
it is the foundation of marxism (communism and its transitory state of socialism)
not sure that is morally superior...
Yawn........broken record
