About Time

China and the US have ratified the Paris Agreement on climate change, giving a boost to efforts to bring the accord into effect by the end of this year.
President Barack Obama said that the agreement should be remembered as 'the moment we finally decided to save our planet', while his counterpart Xi Jinping said it marked the start of a 'global government system' for climate change.
I'm sure that all citizens of low lying countries facing floods will give a cheer as China and the USA are jointly responsible for 40% of global carbon emissions, but the rest of us should ask as we have known about this since the 1970's,  what took you both so bloody long to decide to finally save the planet?
