A Long Goodbye

Sometimes an opportunity comes along which would just be too good to turn down and i have been made an offer which is just that so i will be packing up my keyboard and taking on a new venture which unfortunately means that after 11 years it is doubtful that I will be able to continue this blog from the end of January 2020.
The good news (or bad depending on your view) is that i have lots of already written blog posts to upload and as many half written blog posts which i will endeavour to finish before then as well as blogging the usual stuff that happens in the news such as the UK Election before then as well.
I also have the nub of a surprisingly large number of Special Guest Blogger posts so even if i will not be around, i will still have enough posts to continue updating the blog for months to come after the end of January.
Then i will see where i am and make a decision about whether i am able to pick it up again or to allow Falling On A Bruise to fall into the void for posterity for future bloggers to discover and wonder who the left wing, tree hugging hippy was and whatever happened to her.

At first I thought, well damn it...
Then I thought, oh well, dozens have come and gone...
Then I thought, really, what, are you gonna be in prison? or, are you moving where there is no internet?

Monday - Friday for the past 20+ years I’ve managed to blog with this schedule:
5:00 am - get out of bed, dress, feed and walk the dogs, make the bed
6:00 am - leave for work and drive 62 miles, listen to NPR
7:00 am - arrive at work, hit co. gym (1,000’ on a stair climber with a 40 lb pack)
8:00 am - arrive at my desk, do whatever it is I do
5:30 pm - head home, listen to NPR
6:30 pm - arrive at home
7:00 pm - prepare dinner for self and spouse, clean up kitchen
8:00 pm - feed and walk the dogs

Weekends
Maintain the lawn, gardens
Maintain the cars
Maintain the house
Run kids all over Texas for volleyball and basketball tournaments
Try to do things with friends

Meanwhile
Help raise the kids
Grocery shop (my wife hates grocery shopping)
Earn an MBA
Earn an MS Data Analytics
Earn a Graduate Certificate in National Intelligence
Earn 6 professional certifications
Manage business travel
Manage my elderly mother's finances
Remodel the kitchen, den, bathrooms and re-floor the entire house

And so, I’m like, why can’t you keep your blog going?

Thank you for the permission, very nice of you.

i didn't give you permission, that is condescending stuff that a leftist would do.

i was berating you for not owning your decision...

Never really got sarcasm did you. Nice to see you took the opportunity to go Billy again though, well done you.

it could be you are not good at writing sarcastically...

you made so many, hundreds, of personal attacks on my character, intellect, and motivation that my bias might keep me from seeing the difference between your sarcasm and just another attack...

regardless, even a strained cyber relationship is still a relationship. in spite of our differences we kept communicating...

i wish you the very best in your next endeavor - not sarcasm... life is short, do what is important to you... own the consequences
