2 Minutes To Midnight - Iron Maiden

Of the millions of songs which have been recorded, only 30 songs can make it into The Lucy Museum of Musicians who deserve entry to Lucy's Museum of Musicians and at number 29 we have 2 Minutes To Midnight by Iron Maiden (1984).

Songs about clocks aren't normally as good as this but as it's the Doomsday Clock which was very much part of life for us Cold War kids in the 80's then this is an exception.
Another wall of sound type song with all the requisite Heavy Metal components and lyrics about nuclear annihilation including 'As the madmen play on words and make us all dance to their song / To the tune of starving millions to make a better kind of gun' which played perfectly into my pacifist beliefs while going deaf by playing it too loud on my Sony Walkman.
As well as the lyrics, it's the riff on this one that draws me in, the constant churning of the electric guitar which more than makes up for the less than sparkling vocal talent of Bruce Dickinson who makes a good choice in half speaking the lyrics rather than trying to sing them.
