Lucy Museum of Musicians - Blondie

Qualification to The Lucy Museum of Musicians who deserve entry to Lucy's Museum of Musicians is they must have a minimum of three songs which would make me turn up the radio if they came on

Blondie

Qualifying Songs: Denis, Hanging On The Telephone, Sunday Girl

It's a strange twist that Blondie were much more popular in the UK than in their native America but it's the yanks loss because they were great even if most of their big songs were covers.
None of the three qualifying songs were released in the USA but all made top 5 in the UK in 1978/79.
'Denis' was a cover of a 1963 song and strangely enough used by The Ramones for their Christmas Hit, 'I Don't Want To Fight Tonight'.
'Hanging on the Telephone' was a little known song from 1976 but 'Sunday Girl' was an original although it is anybodies guess why they decided to do a verse in French, Cours te cacher Sunday girl indeed.
It helped that Debbie Harry was effortless cool and not only beautiful but a charismatic front-woman and probably responsible for the large increase in peroxide bleach sales in the late 70's but a string of songs in their heyday put them firmly in the Museum even if America didn't appreciate the band.
