UK Death's Top 10,000

Sadly, another 737 people have died with Coronavirus in UK hospitals, taking the total to 10,612 according to  the Department of Health and the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), who ate also saying that the UK could end up being the 'worst affected country in Europe from Coronavirus', outstripping the death rate seen in other badly-hit countries such as Italy and Spain.
They also suggested a vaccine might be available this autumn but, until one is available, it was 'probably inevitable that a second and third wave of Coronavirus would occur' and a vaccine is the only true exit strategy from this.
The Public Health England (PHE) have also said that the number of people dying with COVID-19 could be double what the public is being told as official counts are not including deaths outside hospitals, such as those in the community or in care homes.
In March, the Imperial College London team said the number of deaths could reach 260,000 in the UK with no restrictions on movement, but they hoped to get this down to 20,000 with the lock down strategy and the UK currently sits fifth in the grim table of Covid 19 deaths behind United States (21,411), Italy (19,899), Spain (16,972) and France (13,832).
The Government have quite rightly faced criticism that they were far too slow to introduce measures to slow the spread, finally acting weeks after some in Europe on March 23rd with Italy became the first European country to lock down it's citizens on 9th March, Spain 14 March and France 17 March.
The Government have said that we are at the peak of infections but the deaths will continue for up to a further two weeks by which time the toll doesn't bear thinking about, especially if the death toll is currently being under-reported and this is not the time to look back and apportion blame, there will be plenty of time for that once its all over and this Government will have a massive reckoning coming.
