Ancient Aeroplanes

This is a pretty little golden trinket. Looks like an aeroplane to me, i can see wings and a tail and a cockpit.
I wonder how the Incan's came up with the design 1500 years ago?  Could be based on a bird or a flying insect or even a fish i guess.
