Public Service Pay Announcement Day

After awarding themselves an 11% pay rise this year, i guess it would be impossible for the Government to hand out the insulting 1% pay rise to the public service workers this year. I mean, it would not only be insensitive but would make themselves look selfish, ignorant and out of touch with the people they are supposed to be representing.

The Treasury: 'As part of our long-term economic plan, we need to take difficult decisions to reduce the deficit while protecting the jobs of people who work hard in our public services. That’s why we have limited pay rises to one per cent'.

That's awkward. It seems that public sector workers are still paying for the misdeeds of the private sector with below inflation wage increases.

The Right Honourable Members of Parliament who begrudgingly accepted an 11% pay rise, and who set the pay rise of the public and civil servants and decided that a 1% raise was quite enough.
