While everyone is looking towards Gaza, the conflict in the Ukraine rumbles on and so do the American call for tougher sanctions be imposed on the Russians.
Problem is Europe don't want to so America is sticking out it's bottom lip and saying they will do it themselves if Europe won't play along.
'After weeks of inaction the US is now prepared to move forward alone if EU officials fail to enact strong sanctions' said one pouty faced American official who must have been miffed to have seen the most influential and powerful European leader, Angela Merkel, sharing a laugh and sitting with Vladimir Putin at the World Cup Final last weekend.
You do get the feeling that while America want to punish Russia for making them look stupid over Syria when they were gearing up for another bout of shock and awe, Europe is happy to wag a finger towards Moscow, tell it that it has been a very naughty boy and forget it.
As one of the largest exports from America to Russia is fruits and nuts, it seems that Russia may have to go elsewhere for their plums and Macadamia's.
